A message from Canada Cartage Employees’ Association and
The Canadian National Federation of Independent Unions
Many employees in our workplace have expressed an interest
in forming our own Association.
For some time, we have been looking for an
alternative to traditional union representation…an option
that would allow us to have our own Association, yet provide
the financial assistance, education and support we need to
form
Canada Cartage Employees’ Association.
The Canadian National Federation of Independent
Unions (CNFIU) can give us that support.
Now is the time to take action…read on for more
information.
The Independent Labour Movement
The benefit to forming an Independent Association
in our workplace is primarily, the members make the
decisions that affect our own workplace.
Nobody knows it better than we do, and having our own
Association gives us the power to make the decisions that
affect us every day.
As an Independent Association, we will also
have access to professional labour relations representatives
and advisors through CNFIU.
We will have the resources and support we need to
make
Canada
Cartage Employees’ Association a strong and viable
entity.
How will CNFIU Assist
Canada
Cartage Employees’ Association?
-
Canada Cartage Employees’ Association
will form its own local and adopt by-laws.
We will elect our own Executive Board….THE
MEMBERS WILL MAKE THE DECISIONS WITHIN OUR OWN LOCAL.
-
We
will hold meetings where every member will have a chance
to submit their proposals for a new Collective
Agreement.
-
CNFIU will
provide professional training and an experienced
representative to assist us in negotiations and prepare
us for the challenge of providing the best
representation possible to the employees of Canada
Cartage Systems Limited Partnership.
-
Membership meetings will be held on a regular basis so
that everyone can attend and everyone will have a say in
what happens in our workplace.
Canada Cartage
Employees’ Association
will have
autonomy over our local bargaining unit issues.
Why?
Because nobody knows our workplace better than we do!
What are some of the
services we will get from CNFIU?
-
Legal and professional representation for grievances,
arbitration, WSIB, Health & Safety issues, collective
agreement issues and other labour issues affecting our
workplace

Employees’ Association as needed
-
