Joining a Union gives you a voice in your workplace. Acting alone to try to make improvements in your workplace may have very little impact. However, acting in unity with your co-workers and having a strong Union behind you will get results. Having a Union in your workplace levels the playing field and gives workers an avenue to resolve issues in their workplace without fear of reprisal or intimidation. A Union will help you negotiate fair wages and benefits for everyone, improve working conditions and establish job security.

Who Can Join

The Canadian National Federation of Independent Unions has organized and represents employees in virtually every sector in the workforce.

Any existing Independent Union or Employee Association may affiliate or become a CNFIU Chartered Local Union by submitting a request with the Canadian National Federation of Independent Unions.

Also, non-union employees wishing to be organized directly by CNFIU or who wish to form their own Independent Union or Employee Association within their workplace can organize through CNFIU.
